Video Cables defined

In simple terms Video cables are cables which used for transmitting video signal from one source to other. Sometime these are called Coaxial cables because most of the video cables available today are Coaxial cables.

Only one cable is used for transmitting complete video signal. These are most commonly used cables type inspite of their low quality video/audio signals. The most common uses of these cables are television, Camcorder, VD player, and VCR's.

RGBHV Video Cables

RGBHV Video Cables are similar to composite video cable but difference is in the fact that video signal in RGBHV cables are divided into five. These RGBHV cables divide the color of video signal into red, green and blue. Now days most of the high end monitors, HDTV used RGBHV connection to create the high definition video quality.

Component Video Cables

In Component video cables complete video signals are divided into three. This way it provides a better image quality then compare to composite cable or S-video cable. S-Video Cables

These S- video cables are also know as SVHS cables and have variety of uses including latest television sets, satellite set top box, camcorder and SVHS VCR's etc. S-video cables divide video signals into two components like luminance and chrominance. This is the main difference between S-video cables and composite video cables.

The replacement of projector bulbs is an all-too-frequent occurrence for anybody that has owned a home theater projector for any length of time. While a two thousand hour lifespan may sound like a lifetime to some people, rest assured it is not long before the projector lamp will need replacing. There are however, some general tips that can help to expand the life of a headlamp for the projection unit.

Do not touch the lamp with bare hands

One of the most frequent problems encountered is people replacing the bulbs with their bare hands. While this is fine for an ordinary light bulb, it is not a good practice for a projector lamp. The lamp in a projection unit burns much hotter than any regular light bulbs. The effects of touching it with bare skin are equally magnified and problematic.

Touching a projector bulb with the bare skin leaves traces of oil on the lamp surface. While this may seem a very minor detail, it is detrimental both to the bulb and the quality of the resulting multimedia display. The oils will get burnt onto the lamp and drastically reduce the lifespan. As the oil is baked into the surface, it actually diffuses the light being projected, reducing the lumens actually being sent to the refractive surfaces. The light will not be enough to project the image that has come to be expected from the home theater projection system. While the problem may not be noticeable at first, over the course of a little time, the quality will degrade to the point of not being viewable.

Turn off the projector power after turning off the lamp

It is highly recommended to turn the power on the projector to the "off" position only after having turned off the lamp and allowing it to cool. This will allow the cooling fans to do the job they were designed to do. While rapid cooling and heating result in repeated contractions and expansions of the bulb filament, it is much better that it be done more quickly with the cooling fans. Likewise, turning the projector on and allowing the cooling fans to run for a moment before turning on the lamp will help as well. This will add hours to bulb life expectancy and allow for longer hours of viewing pleasure on the home theater projection system.

Constant Movements

Constantly bumping or moving the projector, especially while it is hot can be very detrimental to the projector lamp. The filament in the bulb loses almost all tensile strength when it is heated during normal usage. It is much the same as the filament in a camp lantern. The principle is the same; the filament effectively becomes almost the same consistency as ash, making it extremely vulnerable to damage when it is hot. Even after proper cooling, the lamp filament is very sensitive. Care should be taken when moving the projector for whatever reason. While it is always a good idea to be careful with electronic equipment, some aspects of the home projector are actually a bit more sensitive.

It will usually be necessary to move the projector when cleaning the filters. As always, it is a good idea to move it carefully without jerking it around or bumping it any more than needed. Taking an extra moment or two to check the projector mount and make sure it is still securely fastened can also be beneficial and prevent slips and movement which may otherwise be harmful.

With a little care and a little preventative maintenance, the projector lamps will still need to be changed, but not nearly as often.

Before purchasing a sound system for your home, it is important to understand the vocabulary and basic components that make up a quality sound system. For the average listener the vernacular may be a bit overwhelming. What makes up a sound system? What are the components and features of each? How does this relate to what I can hear? Let's explore this further.

A typical sound system or home theater system consists of 3 major speaker components: subwoofer or bass speakers, mid-range or woofer speakers, and tweeters to bring out that full rich melody that sounds so wonderful when it reaches your ear. Each component is specifically designed to reproduce sounds within its respective design frequency range. Subwoofers reproduce very low frequencies called bass sounds while woofers are designed to reproduce mid range frequencies. Tweeters, on the other hand, reproduce high frequencies such as the tinkle of a bell. Typically there is an accompanying or built-in amplifier to provide the necessary power to run all the components. As stated above, all combined provide the listener with the very rich full range sounds comparable to what one hears at a movie theater.

Now, let's put all this into perspective with what the human ear can hear: the name "tweeter' and "woofer" originated from sounds that we so commonly hear on a daily basis emanating from birds (tweet) and dogs (woof). The human ear is capable of hearing sound frequencies in the audible range from 20 Hz (Hertz) to 20,000 Hz. A subwoofer has a range of 20 Hz to 200 Hz, thus starting at the low end of human listening. The large subwoofer size permits it to move air more freely during the sound process while maintaining that deep rich low bass sound that we can literally feel in the air. Woofers on the other hand, range from 40 Hz to 2,000 Hz mid range frequencies, and are smaller than subwoofers. Tweeters range from 2,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz, which places it at the upper end of human ear frequency response, and these are typically the smallest of the three types. All three speaker types combined cover the entire spectrum of the human ear listening experience while at the same time providing the clarity associated with each component.

The majority of the flat panel TVs being sold are limited in space allocation for their speakers thus affecting the quality of sound coming from the unit and, furthermore, are challenged by the manufacturer's design efforts to produce a television as thin as possible. The quality of sound emanating from those units often leaves a lot to be desired and purchasing a good sound system adds significantly to the quality of sound being produced without having to spend a fortune.

An individual has the less common option to purchase the sound system speaker units as separate components or as is more commonly done...a complete package. For those not versed in home theater technology the package deal is convenient and installation/setup is simple. The price ranges in quality and with each manufacturer. Recently, with the advent of flat panel TVs, manufacturers have developed a new concept design called the sound bar or soundbar that plug into the back or side of your current HD flat panel TV via a single cable that is HDMI (high definition multimedia interface) compliant. It contains all the frequency range speakers and amplifier necessary to nearly give you that rich Dolby sound system that one hears in theaters, and at a very affordable price.

So, in conclusion, if you're not happy with the sounds coming from your new HDTV then please take a look at the many inexpensive home theater systems or sound bars that are available to the consumer. You will be getting a lot of bang for your bucks and it's a good way to bring family and friends together for a truly pleasurable experience!

    It's an exciting time for education and technology. Educational technology is consistently improving and more common place in the classroom. Google "21st Century Classroom Presentation." You'll find schools moving to a different kind of environment. Is this good? Are there problems with adding interactivity and engaging materials in the classroom?

    These questions won't be answered in this article. This article is going to focus on educational technology. Technology that is consistently demonstrated at conferences for teachers and administrators. This article is intended to educate you on what technology is currently available for schools. We're also going to stick with the 21st Century Classroom theme.

    Document cameras, projectors and computers are becoming common place in the classroom. Document cameras are an incredible piece of technology used in education today. The ability to show a page in a text book or a worksheet up on the board without making a transparency! Many schools still use transparencies and overhead projectors. Overhead projectors limit the freedom to adapt to the class and create real-time learning experiences based on student responses.

    Projectors and interactive whiteboards are a must ever since the Internet became available. Multimedia, simulations, videos, maps, research, etc... Projectors allow for whole class learning and engaging discussions that extend from a specific topic or skill. The interactive whiteboard technology allows the teacher to stay in front of the classroom notating and controlling the mouse.

    Another important educational technology piece are computers. Computer labs have been common in schools for sometime. The real concern has been actual "computer access" the students have throughout the week. Having enough computers and creating a consistent schedule for the entire school has always been a challenge. An answer to this challenge has been mobile laptop carts. Imagine a large cart with 25 laptops shelved, plugged into outlets within the cart. Only the cart needs an external outlet to power all laptops. This cart is moved from classroom to classroom and students are assigned a computer number. Instead of scheduling computer time to the computer lab, teachers are reserving these laptop carts...bringing the computer lab to them!

    Classroom Response Systems or Voting Response Systems or clickers are becoming a common trend as an added piece to their educational technology plan. You will be sure to find more information when you Google "21st Century Classroom Presentation". These devices allow for true interactivity and engagement within the class as a whole.

    The last piece of any educational technology plan is the software. Blogs, wikis, games, curriculum software, reading and math intervention software, etc. are all things students do on the computers. Once hardware is in place, the question is, "What do the students do on the computers?" Educational software is such a broad term, schools constantly are researching software specific to a target group of students: high school credit recovery, homebound students, before/after school programs, supplement content to the school's curriculum, state test prep software, etc.

    One thing is for certain, educational technology is constantly improving and classrooms are moving closer and closer to the 21st Century Classroom.
